Under the direction of the Director of Occupational Health Supervising Physician or Medical Director, this position is responsible for managing onsite clinical operations by working independently as the primary onsite clinical authority to provide direct patient care. The Registered nurse supervises care in accordance with policies and scope of practice set forth by Parrish Healthcare and the State of Florida/applicable authority entity. Will participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and assumes responsibility for their professional development. This position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as onsite clinical resource in high-risk construction environment. Executes nursing interventions by collaborating with the interprofessional team incorporating appropriate standards of care, practice and patient outcomes
- Deliver patients centered care for Occupational and non-occupational injuries while ensuring regulatory compliance. Assesses and systemically collects data related to patient health status and works in collaboration with the care team to develop the plan of care
- Practice independently while collaborating with onsite NP or Medical Director as needed to support safe, individualized clinical decision making. Evaluates patient’s response to set plan of care to include obtaining necessary order sets, authorization and/or any additional care plan need to ensure patient completes and or has full plan of care established and completed.
- Conduct daily worksite assessments for hazards.
- Lead medical emergency response team. Coordinate offsite transport with KSC. Develop and deliver CPR, AED, and first aid training to support employee readiness. Documents nursing assessment and interventions to reflect comprehensive and integrated approach to patient care in which should include providing care that is safe, ethical, patient- and family-centered, culturally congruent and evidence-based within their scope of practice set guidelines
- Collaborate with safety dept to complete rescue drills. Assists safety dept with injury investigations. There are skills and responsibilities that are common across the ambulatory setting (primary or specialty care). RN-Ambulatory may perform any or all of these skills and responsibilities. These may include but are not limited
- Telephone or in-person triage by providing patient education and assessment feedback
- Review test results and provide bucket management for assigned providers and own bucket management
- Review and manage communications from patients via received portal messages or voicemails
- Assist by following sterile technique processes during support to procedural tasks while providing urgent and emergent patient care as warranted
- Assist or perform procedures (e.g. ECGs, dressing changes, subcutaneous or intra-muscular injections, etc.) via provider support and/or via own schedule in clinic setting management
- Assist with medication management to include refill requests, injections in the office or as applicable
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- May float to other onsite clinics on an as needed for operations need
- Work independently within their scope of practice to achieve clinical outcomes
- Maintain a level of professional development through continuing education, quality improvement initiatives and sharing of knowledge
- Leadership through collaborative partnerships with care partners, patients or visitors
- Reflect understanding and strive to meet Parrish’s Care Standards, Mission and Vision
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
Formal Education:
- Graduate of an RN education program (accredited preferred); Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred.
- 6 months to < 1 year. Preferred relevant Occ Health RN experience in ambulatory setting. Paramedic or emergency background.
- Active and clear State of Florida RN license required.
- BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
- Occupational Health Certification required (related extensive experience may be considered in lieu of certification with department head approval).
- Paramedic license is strongly preferred.
